A truck fire near Boggabilla caused the closure of the Newell Highway for a couple of hours on Thursday evening.

At about 6pm on Thursday, July 5 the Newell Highway was closed in both directions near Mccosker Street, Boggabilla after a truck load of groceries caught fire just south of the Shell service station.
The driver of the B-double reportedly unhooked the front trailer and primemover but the rear trailer was lost in the blaze.
There were reports that aerosol cans further sparked the blaze, with debris being thrown long distances.
Emergency services were called to the scene to put out the fire.
Live Traffic NSW advised motorists to delay their trips and avoid the area.
At about 7pm, one lane of the highway was reopened to traffic, with motorists advised to take care through the area.

About an hour later, at 8pm, all lanes of the Newell Highway were reopened and traffic conditions were returning to normal.
