The Events, by Scottish playwright David Grieg, was the sleeper hit of the 2013 Edinburgh Festival.
For this Australian production, the well-known Catherine McClements (Wentworth, Sisters, Water Rats) is joined by a local community choir drawn from the Tamworth region in an extraordinary blend of theatre and music.
The events tackles the most difficult question to answer in the aftermath of a massacre: why?
The Events was written as a response to the 2011 massacre in Norway. Devastatingly, this story is still as relevant today as it was seven years ago with such events in the USA occurring too often – and closer to home with Port Arthur, Martin Place and Melbourne CBD.
Ultimately, the play is about moving forward, strength in the face of adversity and hope.
The Events can be seen at Tamworth Town Hall on Tuesday, July 17 and Wednesday, July 18 at 7.30pm.
After numerous sell-out performances in Australia, popular psychic-medium Peter Williams is coming to Tamworth’s Capitol Theatre on Saturday, July 28 at 7pm.
