The incident occurred on the New England Highway, just north of Scone.
It is believed one vehicle rolled several times from the collision.
Two people were taken by NSW Ambulance to Scott Memorial Hospital.
ALSO MAKING HEADLINES
A 32-year-old male, who was the driver of the car that rolled, suffered relatively minor injuries.
He is listed as being in a stable condition.
However, due to the serious mechanism of the accident, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service conveyed him to Newcastle for further assessment.
