“While the priorities we have identified will not change, this strategy will continue to evolve and grow as new situations and challenges arise that is why community feedback and input into these processes is so important,” Ms Carr said.
“We want to ensure that we have addressed the issues of the community so that we can work together to achieve our region’s vision.”

Tamworth Regional Council’s sustainability priorities
Energy
Energy use from fossil fuels is the primary contributor to climate change.
The most significant action that Tamworth Regional Council has committed to take is to implement energy efficiency projects to reduce energy consumption and utilise renewable energy sources.
Waste
Council is committed to providing high quality waste and recycling collection, treatment and disposal services to the community whilst protecting the environment form potential impacts that may arise from council waste and recycling operations.
The recovery of materials for recycling and the efficient management of assets and operating costs is also a priority.
Water
Sustainable water management is a high priority for the Tamworth region, the state and the nation.
Council will continue to face challenges in terms of water availability and through this strategy, aims to ensure efficient use and consumption of water and support long term water security for the region's residents.
Carbon Emissions
Council recognises that its operations have an impact on climate change through the emission of greenhouse gases.
Council is committed to setting up a carbon management system and will regularly monitor and review its carbon emissions.
