Clubs can view the government’s current local sport strategies and have their say on subjects ranging from facility development to the future growth of local sport within the region.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson urged local clubs from across the region to have their say.
“This is a great opportunity for sports lovers in Breeza to Barraba, Gowrie to Gunnedah or Werris Creek to Walcha and right across the region to have their say on how grassroots sport will emerge in the next five years,” Mr Anderson said.
“I encourage everyone to view the plans and give their feedback on what they would like to see here in our region.
“These plans draw on ideas from the Australian Sports Commission and I want to make sure that all the sports we play here get a chance to have their say.”

Mr Anderson said the community’s feedback would go a long way to shaping government strategies regarding local sport in the state.
“This is an important first step in the process of gathering feedback from the community to ensure that we invest in the right mix of sports facilities that meet the needs of our unique communities,” he said.
“Nine sport and active recreation plans have been developed with 30 - 40 strategies, which include initiatives specific to each of the regional areas.
“The plans will support participation across the state, by improving access to sports facilities and ovals and supporting programs that increase and encourage community involvement.”
The Tamworth MP said encouraging new sports to the region and encouraging more female participation in sports were also key objectives of the strategies.
“Plans have been developed for the New England and the North West and key proposals like the ‘stay in your sport’ coach education program will encourage promising young stars to continue with their chosen sport,” he said.
“We are also looking to attract more valued sporting events to regional NSW, plan female-friendly sporting facilities and establish hubs to support multi-purpose sports.”
The feedback period is open until Thursday 19 July 2018 via sport.nsw.gov.au/regionalplans
