Woolomin Public School students have been busy drawing up design plans for the coolest playground ever, the brainchild of the Woolomin Recreation Reserve Committee.
President John McDonald said the idea started 18 months earlier when the community noticed kids were spending more time using the streets as a playground.
“It’s poked along from there,” he said.
“We want to get the word out about the project because it’s not just for kids in Woolomin, it’s for passing visitors to pull up and have a playground to muck around on.
“But, we’re in the worst drought situation of people’s lifetimes here at the moment – fodder and water are the number one priority so you have to be a bit realistic about things.”

The pocket-sized school has around 30 students, so fundraising through parents and the community alone is tough.
Tamworth Regional Council has put more than $2500 towards the project to fund seating and an awning on the front of the park kiosk.
Mr McDonald said the committee has raised $5600 so far, with diligent members running Bunnings barbeques once a month.
“There’s always things that come up, hopefully there’s a sport and recreation grant around and we can put in an application and see how we go,” he said.
“It’d be nice to have something sitting there now to have a look at, we would love to be on our way in the next six months.”
