THE last piece of the Jewry Street intersection jigsaw has been funded, with the state government committing $6 million to the thoroughfare in the budget.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said the significant project would continue drive the city forward and enhance its livability.
Mr Anderson said the money would upgrade the “goat track” of a road from the Manilla Road intersection, all the way up to the racecourse, and also duplicate the bridges at the intersection.
The government also allocated $550,000 to improve safety on the New England Highway at Bendemeer.
“This is a solid budget for our city but there is always more to be done,” Mr Anderson said.
“I look forward to continuing to chasing every opportunity to improve the lives of communities.”
