The Dance for Cancer star broke his wrist playing football at the start of the month, but he said it hasn’t put a damper on his rehearsals with partner Lily Singh.

“The rehearsals are going really well, we had a bit of a hiccup when I showed up to one of the dance lessons with a broken wrist but we haven’t had to change the dance at all,” he said.

“I’m going to be pulling off the lifts exceptionally – it’s pretty good now, I remember the whole thing so hopefully I don’t forget on the night.”

While he doesn’t have professional dance experience, Mr Murphy taught himself Hip Hop as a teenager, combining intricate footwork with a gangster style.

A far cry from his previous dance style, Mr Murphy will perform the French Tango with Ms Singh – who has been involved in the fundraiser for four years.

“Jamieson listens and really connects to the dance we’re doing so it’s been pretty breezy,” she said.

“He’s put in 100 per cent effort, leaving nothing on the floor so we’re looking forward to it.

“I love seeing non-dancers get in there, have a go, and support the cause.”

So far, Mr Murphy has raised more than $3000 for the Stars of Tamworth Dance for Cancer event, where all funds go to the Cancer Council.
