The score between the two sides ended at 1-1 thanks largely to the two goalkeepers.
“There was some good goalkeeping. Troy Keyte (OVA) and Stephen Tanner (Norths) made some good saves,” OVA coach Tim Coates said.
“In particular, one by Stephen diving to his left but both goalkeepers made some really good saves.
“I think the fact they were playing on a really good surface and the passing was so good, they were so intent on passing they forgot where the goals were.
“They really enjoyed playing football on a good surface.”
Norths scored the opener before OVA hit back.
Coates said both goals were “probably” against the run of play and that both sides left feeling they could have claimed a win.
“Both teams probably could have scored three goals,” Coates said.
“Was it a fair result? Both coaches would probably claim they would have liked to have won and probably should. So, that’s a draw.”
Mushies hold onto second place on the ladder while Norths remain in fourth.
Demon Knights jumped up to third with their 3-0 win over South Armidale while Tamworth FC kept their stranglehold on the top spot with a 3-1 win over East Armidale who now sit fifth.
Coates said he was “very surprised” to be sitting in second spot on the ladder but also “very happy” with how the team has come together.
“I’m very surprised to be sitting six points clear at the moment,” Coates said.
“I’m very happy with the young guys who made their way up from ressies and the guys that have come in.
“The week off will give the guys carrying a couple knocks to recover.”
