Goondiwindi police arrested the man on Wednesday for taking part in an Anzac Day service where it’s alleged he pretended to be a returned serviceman.

Following investigations, police raided the home of the 49-year-old Goondiwindi man, taking him into custody on Wednesday.

During the raid, officers seized a number of military medals and military memorabilia.

He has been charged under the Defence Act with one count each of falsely representing to be a returned soldier, sailor or airman, and improper use of service decorations.

He is due to front Goondiwindi Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
