The June long weekend was an “outstanding” one for the Tamworth Netball Association under 17s side.
The side competed at the 2018 Netball NSW State Championships in division three of the under 17s comp.
The only blemish on their weekend was two losses which came at the hands of winners Brunswick Byron and second-placed Muswellbrook.
Both losses were by just two goals.
Kerrin Dominick coached the side and couldn’t have been prouder of the hard-working group.
“I attribute the team’s success to their commitment, their positivity, their tenacity, and their composure on court,” Dominick said.
“The girls endured some nail-biter matches but they showcased their skills, maturity and sheer determination to bring home several clear wins after even scores at half-time.
“I am really delighted that the girls achieved such a tremendous result and it has been an absolute privilege to coach them, something I will never forget.
“I am most proud of the many commendations received from opposition players and coaches throughout the event regarding the team’s consistency and outstanding sportsmanship.”
Tamworth Netball Association also had a team in open division two at the championships.
The side finished off strongly to claim wins over local rivals Armidale – 18-17 – and Narrabri – 28-19 – on the final day.
It took their win tally to five as they finished in 14th position on the ladder.
A highlight of the weekend was a draw against a strong Coffs Harbour outfit who ended up finishing second at the carnival.
