Boggabilla Central School students and staff were praised for their response to a lockdown on Friday.
A Department of Education and Boggabilla Central School spokesperson said the brief safety procedure was initiated to ensure students’ safety during an emerging issue.
“Students and staff are commended for their response to the lockdown safety procedure earlier today,” the spokesperson said.
“The prompt response enabled staff to quickly and effectively manage the issue and students were safe at all times.”
Lockdowns are one of a number of safety procedures rehearsed regularly by public schools.
EARLIER (12.30pm Friday, June 8):
Police were called to Boggabilla Central School following reports of a lockdown.
Officers from the New England Police District were unable to provide any more details at this time but said the children are safe.
“There are no concerns for the safety of children at this time,” a spokesperson said.
The school was contacted but they were unable to comment on the situation.
