The Australian event is forecast to attract more than 20,000 visitors, industry leaders and education providers over three action-packed days.
“I’ve been training very hard and it would just be amazing to win nationals and be given the opportunity to represent Australia,” Ms Moyses said.
Mr Donnelly said: “It’s what I have been working towards, and to be able to showcase my skills to a wider audience and learn from the best across the world would really benefit my career.”
TAFE NSW teacher and WorldSkills site crew member Cameron Falzon said the four Tamworth students were well-prepared for the competition in Darling Harbour.
“These eight extremely skillful TAFE NSW Tamworth students have earned the right to compete at the state level after upstaging the best local talent at the regional WorldSkills competition,” he said.
“The students have spent countless hours preparing for this competition.”
Mr Falzon said this had included a weekend development camp in March in Orange and Bathurst, where more than 300 TAFE NSW students converged for a two-day extensive training exercise.
“Having worked closely with the team, I’m confident the local competitors not only have the skills to do well in Sydney, but go on to achieve success at the international finals in Russia,” he said.
The WorldSkills Australia 2018 national championships will be held at the International Convention Centre, Sydney, from June 2-4.
