The event held in the Quirindi’s new emergency services prescient will allow locals the chance to thank there local volunteer groups and in-turn give those a chance to showcase what the provide the community and recruit new members.
LPSC mayor Andrew Hope said community volunteers were pivotal to the country’s success.
“Think of almost any area of the running of our community - schools, hospitals, churches, sporting groups, environmental groups, peak associations, self-help groups, and festival committees and you will find our unsung army of community volunteers working away,” Cr Hope said.
“That’s why on Friday June 1, between 11am and 2pm, we’d like to see as many volunteers and community members as possible join us at the new emergency services precinct, in Pryor Street, as we not only say thank you to the volunteers but also introduce others to opportunities for joining in and contributing.”

Cr Hope encouraged local community groups to come along and join in the event to showcase their talents and enjoy a barbecue lunch.
“Something that has struck me is that most volunteers are really humble, they don't want to be lavished with praise, their reward is in the giving of their time and sharing of their talents,” he said.
“So, volunteers please come along on June 1 so we can salute you, community members please come along to show your thanks and to discover opportunities to join their ranks.
“Come along and enjoy the barbecue and show how grateful the LPS community is to these amazing people in our ranks. “
