The fault affected mobile data and Telstra’s 4G network, and lasted about two hours.
It was the second Telstra failure in May, but the company said the two incidents were not linked.

It was still investigating the cause of the latest software fault, which triggered a series of failures in the 4G network and another problem meant the company’s backup system didn’t work as expected.
As customers defaulted to the 3G network for mobile and data services, that in turn overloaded, disrupting service on that network.
