A 2-0 loss to Port United FC at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility on Sunday meant DK were not among the competition’s regional winners.
But the Armidale-based club’s coach, Evan Quaife, was proud of his side's display against a bigger club and delighted DK came away from the event with a win.
In their first match, played on Saturday, DK beat Goonellabah FC 1-0 when Naran Singh kicked the side into the fifth round with a golden extra-time strike.
The match finished late, with DK having to back up for a 10am start against Port United.
Quaife said Singh’s goal was scored in the 118th minute. “So that was most exciting for us,” he said. “That’s as far as Demon Knights have been in the competition. So we got to play one of the other winners.”
Tamworth FC did not advance past Saturday’s action after suffering a 3-1 loss to Bangalow.
