The Darley Scone Cup Carnival was off to a fabulous start at Scone Race Club on Friday, showcasing all the Hunter Valley has to offer, quality racing and $2 million in prize money over the two days.
Gai Waterhouse-Adrian Bott-trained Sedanzer took out the Darley Scone Cup – the highlight on the half-day public holiday’s race card.
Meanwhile, the real winner of the day was the fashion stakes, with contestants out in full force despite the gusty winds.
Emirates Fashions on the Field was hosted by Sharon Lenton of Thoroughbred Events Australia with the final decision coming down to a panel of three judges.
Marili Lepiku of Aberdeen took out top local woman while Sydney’s Jess Thei was sashed best dressed woman.
An exceptional day of racing continues on Saturday with the Inglis Guineas & Coolmore Dark Jewel Race Day offering an amazing $1.4 million in prize money.
