A 17-year old female passenger remains in Goondiwindi hospital and is undergoing a range of tests, following a single vehicle crash yesterday evening. Moree police station officer-in-charge Martin Burke said her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
A 16-year old male passenger has been released from Goondiwindi Hospital without serious injury.
Police are currently preparing a report for the coroner in relation to the single-vehicle crash. They will conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
“We reiterate that people go about their business in a safe manner and drive to the road conditions and make sure you wear a seat belt. Police are out in force across the district with the traffic safety operation, Operation Merit ongoing,” Inspector Burke said.
EARLIER (Thursday, 6am):
A teenager has died and two others have been injured after a single-vehicle crash in the state’s north-west this evening.
About 6.30pm (Wednesday 9 May 2018), emergency services were called to a property near the intersection of the Newell Highway and Lowes Road, Boggabilla (about 113km north of Moree), after reports a car had crashed.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy, died at the scene.
A male and a female passenger, both believed to be in their late teens, were taken to Goondiwindi Hospital in a serious condition.
Officers from the New England Police District established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Inquiries are continuing.
