THE NSW Resources Regulator has launched an investigation into an incident that occurred at Whitehaven Coal’s Maules Creek mine on April 21.

Inspectors and investigators have been deployed to the mine following an accident which saw a haul truck and service truck collide, seriously injuring one of the drivers.

The Namoi Valley Independent understands the driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A Whitehaven Coal spokesperson said the organisation would be co-operating with investigators.
“The safety of Whitehaven employees and operations is our number one priority,” the spokesperson said.
“We take any safety incident extremely seriously and will co-operate fully with the the regulator throughout its investigation.”
The Resources Regulator will publish an investigation information release within the next 14 days to provide information on the potential cause and circumstances of the incident.
