President Bob Chapman hopes all the services, particularly the dawn service at Anzac Park, will be well attended to mark the special occasion.

“We are hoping the crowd will be well and truly in the thousands – 5000 plus if we can get it,” Mr Chapman said.

“Tamworth people are very patriotic when it comes to their RSL and what we are all about.  I think people will make the special effort this year to join in the commemorations, given it is our 100^th year.”

The sub-branch is putting the finishing touches on what is its biggest day of the year. “We’re a bit concerned it hasn’t rained for so long and it looks like could rain,” Mr Chapman said.

“But the day will go ahead whether raining, hailing or shining. There is no way Tamworth would let the rain stop it from commemorating our fallen and serving soldiers.”

The Anzac Park dawn service starts at 5.30am. The march steps off from Marius Street at 10am, followed by a service at Town Hall at 11am.
