Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson will chair a meeting on Tuesday, April 24 to with business leaders and local government representatives to roll out a blueprint for the future of the institution.
Mr Anderson said the redevelopment will help ease Gunnedah’s long-standing skills shortage.
“Because we have a problem with unemployment and skills in Gunnedah, we need to provide the training courses and opportunities to locals so they can do those jobs,” he said.
“We’ll be developing strategies with Gunnedah business owners and managers as well as representatives of Gunnedah Shire Council to bring about positive outcomes for young people in the town.”

“If we want our local businesses to employ locals then we have to support them with training options and I believe TAFE plays a very important role in that process.
“TAFE needs to talk to local businesses to find out about what training options we need for our employees, to upskill them or take on an apprentice.”
As many as 20 representatives from local Gunnedah businesses and Gunnedah Shire Council are expected to attend the meeting.
