In the abbreviated Commonwealth Games format, only one team progressed from each pool, leaving Australia in second place.
On Sunday, the Aussies opened with a 33-5 win over Kenya and then defeated Scotland 26-0 in the fifth-place play-off.
The men’s matches began on Saturday. Porch scored two tries – one each in the 32-5 defeat of Jamaica and the loss to England.
He followed also scored in the win over Kenya.
The only matches he did not cross for a try in were the first-up 24-7 win over Samoa, although he kicked a goal, and the defeat of Scotland (he kicked three goals).
Australian coach Andy Friend said: “If we had gone out there and we laid down [against England], I would feel really empty, because that's not what this team is about.
"But it's a game of sevens. And we know that a game of sevens at this level, and on the World Series [level], it can go either way.”
In the final, New Zealand beat Fiji 14-0.
