Skateboarding, photography, graffiti, music, dance, an NRL game and careers advice are just some of the events and activities that will be covered by Youth Week activities in Tamworth.
While Tamworth youth councillors, Molly Moroney and Jacob Brown, were on hand in Sydney at the official opening, the Youth Forum, activities kicked off locally on Friday night with a well attended touch football night at The Youthie.
The weekend is when events will heat up, with an open mic night on Saturday, followed by All Aboard Skateboard sessions at the Skate Park on Peel street from 10.30am on Monday.
Acting Team Leader of Youth Services Veronica Filby said Youth Week marks an important date on the calendar for Australia’s youth to be heard, and let the community know what they want for their future.
“It is a chance for youth to create awareness around issues that affect them, and to create more opportunities,” she said.
“It is also a great chance to express themselves and showcase their talents.”
