The Taste Tamworth festival opens on Friday at 5pm with the Flavours on Fitzroy event returning for the first time since the street’s $4.5 million upgrade.
Council events manager Barry Harley thinks the possibilities will be endless when it comes to holding events in the new pedestrian mall.

“We’ll be looking at having anything from a poetry reading through to a full-blown food event,” Mr Harley told The Leader.
“So it really is a space that is limited only to the imagination.”
There will be a dozen stalls and live entertainment packed into the block for Friday’s fare.
The festival of food rolls on with Sunday’s Taste in the Park hosting 58 stalls in Bicentennial Park.
“Taste, with Flavours on Fitzroy, will actually demonstrate the diversity of food that’s actually available in the region,” Mr Harley said.
The events team at Tamworth Regional Council already has a few plans for Fitzroy St, this year.
“Fiesta La Peel will come around the corner this year, that’s the multicultural event that attracts several thousand to the CBD,” Mr Harley said.
“We’ll use it a little differently next January and we’ll probably have some entertainment down this area, roll the buskers through here a little bit more.”
Taste will also include the Farm Gate Trail and the Long Lunch in Anzac Park.
