The judgement follows an onsite meeting between councillors, council staff and local residents, some of whom object to the Valley Drive development.
About 20 people have formally objected to the project and a petition with 100 signatures was also tabled to council.
The main issues raised included potential traffic impacts on Valley Drive and nearby intersections, the impact on native flora and fauna, along with bushfire and stormwater drainage concerns.
A report by council staff said there was an understanding the subdivision would change the area, but the addition “will have a positive contribution to the variety and availability of housing in East Tamworth, thus benefiting the Tamworth region as a whole”.
