The Walcha Show held last Friday and Saturday saw some of the region’s best livestock, poultry and horses compete for broad ribbon honours, joining members of the community who put their best forward – in everything from sewing and cooking to jumping dogs and pets.
Highlights of the event included a peanut drop, fireworks and a varied and an entertaining ring program.
On Friday there was a huge range of horse events, prime lambs, Merino sheep and a heifer show, plus a range of wool, produce, cooking, horticulture, arts and crafts on display in the pavilions.
Saturday’s features were the the demolition derby, an ag bike competition, pet show, fashion parade, yard dog trials and the stud cattle show, plus the rodeo on Saturday night drew a good crowd.
Over both days of competition, Walcha Showgirl Sophie Uren, could be seen around the grounds – often sashing winners and presenting ribbons.
