Star of the Grills racing stable, Melted Moments, will be back on track after a break in the $25,000 De Bortoli Wines 2018 David Dye Memorial Newmarket Open Handicap (1100m) in a race with 22 nominations.
The six-year-old gelding has four wins and one second from his last five starts.
“Melted Moments was in terrific form when he went out in the paddock so if he comes back in that form he will take some beating as well,” Grills said.
“There could be six down there if they all get a run, there will be at least five running.”
He tipped Image of Love in the Owen and Fiveash - Invest Blue Class 4 Handicap (1400m) and Abb Roy in the Armidale Roof Tilers and Town and Country Real Estate Maiden Plate as chances of featuring in the money.
“Image of Love is back in class so she should go pretty good there even though it is a pretty good race,” Grills said.
“Abb Roy in the maiden, he has been travelling pretty well with three placings in his last four starts.
“All worked well [Wednesday] morning so we are ready to go and should be and everything should be fine.”
In the main race there have been 19 nominations including last year’s winner Carry On Jake.
