POLICE are appealing for public help to find a distinctive bolt-action rifle stolen during a break-in near Tamworth.

The Underwood Street property in Quirindi was hit by thieves between February 5 and 8, when the owner was away, but the missing firearm was only reported stolen on February 14.
Officers are searching for the registered Weatherby .223-calibre rifle, which was in a leather gun case with a native Indian design.
Anyone with information on the break-in or the firearm is urged to contact local police.
“There was some other things, some food stuffs taken from the property,” Oxley Chief Inspector Phil O’Reilly said.
