He was standing on top of Thunderbolt’s Rock, south of Uralla, the town where the rest of the video was shot.
The song by Eckersley, and his wife Brooke McClymont was the first single released from their new album, Adam & Brooke, which dropped last week, and the video clip was shot using an Armidale company.
“We shot that all in one day, we came up from the Central Coast, went to Uralla, and were home that night,” Brooke said.
“And I got to climb the rock, which was cool, Thunderbolt’s Rock,” Adam said. “It’s higher than it looks driving past.”
The McClymonts’ Forever Begins Tonight was also shot in the area, at Saumarez Homestead near Armidale, also by director Ben Abbott.
“You’ve got some great spots up your way for film clips,” Brooke said.
“And that’s why we picked Uralla, and I think someone also knew the owner of the pub in Uralla, so we just had a whole heap of connections, it was fabulous.”
That was last October, and now with the single and video getting plenty of attention, and their album released, the husband and wife duo are hitting the road to play the songs from the new album on their Highway Sky Tour.
Next month they will return to the Northern Tablelands for a gig at Armidale Servies Club on March 2.
“It’s Brooke and I telling yarns and having a laugh, like two fools on stools just telling stories,” Adam said about the show.
On the tour they will play a mix of acoustic concerts, and some with a band, using the musicians from the Adam Eckersley Band, and the Armidale gig will be acoustic, with rising star Tori Forsyth as the support act.
“We really enjoy doing it actually because it’s intimate and we talk about the songs and where they came from, plus we do some AEB songs and a couple of The McClymonts’ songs and a few covers that we really dig doing,” Adam said.
“So it’s choc-a-bloc full of goodness and usually a good laugh too.”
With The McClymonts taking a break after Brooke’s sister Sam became a mother earlier last year, it provided an ideal opportunity for the eldest McClymont to record and tour with her husband, who is usually on stage with AEB.
But they won’t have long.
“We’ve really only got seven months to promote this album and tour, so hopefully people come and see us,” Brooke said.
After that, the husband and wife will return to their respective bands.
“I’ll go back to the girls and Adam will go back to his band and it will be a good 18 months before we can do it again,” Brooke said.
