On home turf, Guyra claimed an outright victory over City after heading into the day with a handy advantage.
On Saturday the hosts managed to dismiss City for 113 before stepping up to bat again.
At 8-144 and a lead of 202, Guyra declared and sent their opponents back in to bat.
With Guyra’s bowlers in form, it was always going to be a tough ask for City but their start was promising with opener Andrew Skinner smashing four fours before he was dismissed on 22 by Jake Ellis.
Fellow opener Andy Sawyer was sent for 10 and the wickets kept falling as they were send packing for 79.
Ellis was the stand out for Guyra, finishing the match with 10 wickets – five in each innings – while BJ Cameron chimed in with three more in the second innings to add to his four from the first while captain Charlie Keen rounded out the wicket-takers list with two.
While Ellis’ bowling figures stood out, Keen had a hard time singling out anyone in what he said was a “good, all-round team performance.”
“Jake Ellis bowled fantastic, he just kept the pressure on the whole way through,” he said.
“Our fielding, on a field like this where it is just so bloody quick we just fielded and the pressure built up and they just gave their wickets away.
“We batted well, I wasn't sure if we would give our wickets away quickly or if we would stay out there and we did.
“It was just one of those complete team performances and I am very happy with all the hard work finally paying off.”
The declaration late in the match was a risk but a positive one.
“We had nothing to lose, we were thinking about whether to keep batting but this late in the season there's nothing to lose,” Keen said.
“If we are going to win we may as well go all in and it payed off. Jake and BJ just bowling tight, they [City] just threw their wickets away, were getting frustrated and playing some silly shots and it all payed off.”
Guyra are still a chance to make the semi-finals with two rounds of competition remaining. They have the bye this weekend while City face ladder leaders Easts before the final round will see Guyra play Ex-Services.
