THE story of unnaturally talented pigs, gorillas, elephants and porcupines played out on the big screen – the really big screen – when Cinema Under the Stars took place last night.
Hundreds of families laid out their rugs, camping chairs, even pillows and blankets for the evening of entertainment, put on by Newcastle Permanent.
The event started late in the afternoon and included live music, a circus play space, a blow-up soccer pitch and giveaways.
The main attraction, a screening of the animated film Sing – starring the voice talents of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane – started once the sun went down on Bicentennial Park.
Cinema Under the Stars is a free outdoor cinema community program, which tours regional NSW from October to February and is in its 11th year.
