POLICE are searching for the driver of a stolen car from Queensland who fled the scene after crashing into a tree in South Tamworth.

The silver Ford Territory collided with a tree off Hillvue Road about 3am on Friday before the driver fled on foot.
Police were called and checks revealed the number plates didn’t match the vehicle.
Investigations showed the Territory had been reported stolen from Mackay in Queensland on January 26.
The car has been towed for forensic examination and police are appealing for anyone who might have seen the stolen car being driven in the Tamworth area.
