Sixty four of the 70 rams on offer at the multi-vendor sale – one of the largest of its type in NSW – were sold with the average up about $1000 compared with 2017. The sale also eclipsed last year’s top price of $14,000.
The top priced ram was Lot 3 from Merryville stud which sold for $18,000 and was purchased by Warren Coventry, “Eversleigh”, Armidale, who also bought Lot 1 for $17,000.
The supreme exhibit from Peter Lette’s Conrayn Merinos, Berridale, sold for $11,000 to Leo and Judy Blanch, West Vale Merinos, Wollun.
“Buyers were selective but increased their budgets for the better end of the rams,” according to Landmark stud stock agent Brad Wilson.
“The excellent clearance and the average of $4082 reflects the confidence currently in the industry and prices received for wool, wether lambs and ewes over the past 12 months.
“It is a good time to be in Merinos.”
