POLICE will allege a man was caught on CCTV inside a Tamworth CBD store stuffing goods down his pants.
Tony Steven Mitchell is accused of stealing a battery pack jump starter from JB Hi-Fi in Centrepoint Arcade on Tuesday afternoon.
Police allege the 42-year-old was captured on security cameras entering the electronics’ store about 4pm and put the goods, valued at more than $100, down the front of his pants before leaving.
Police were alerted to the theft on Wednesday morning and viewed the CCTV before Mitchell was arrested out the front of the police station.
Officers allege Mitchell was wearing the same clothes and was charged with breaching his bail and larceny.
He was refused bail and appeared in Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday afternoon where magistrate Julie Soars denied bail.
The court heard Mitchell was on bail for four counts of possessing goods in custody suspected of being stolen, possessing a prohibited drug and possessing a false document to obtain a financial advantage.
Police confirmed the 42-year-old has also been issued a banning notice from the shopping centre.
He will remain behind bail until March while police compile a brief of evidence.
