EQUINE experts, potential purchasers and average punters continue to stream through the gates as the Landmark Classic gears up for a big weekend of sales.
The annual Tamworth event has continued to grow in stature with the 2017 edition roping-in more than $7 million in horse sales.
Landmark general manager of livestock Mark Barton said average sales have grown annually.
“Year on year, we’ve seen this sale grow from 120 horses that grossed $1.2 million to lay year was just over $7 million,” he said.

“The averages have grown and the clearances remain high.
“I think more and more people are prepared to see value in a properly bred and well-started young horse.
“So you’ve seen those values increase from $8000 to $10,000 averages to $15,000 averages over a decade.”
Organisers said the weekend would see the event culminate with its bigger sales.
