GRAIN producers in the region will be kept up-to-date with the latest grain research conducted by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), with up coming meetings around the region.

Breeza Hall will play host to a variety of speakers who will discuss a number of topics with agronomists and producers on Friday March 2.
ICAN Rural’s John Cameron said the events will be very informative for everybody in the agriculture industry and will include very knowledgeable speakers.
“The primary role of the updates and associated programs in the adoption cycle is awareness of new research outcomes that can be taken and applied in the short to medium term,” Mr Cameron said.
“Planning committees are convened for each update to select themes and topics.
“Those invited include farming systems co-ordinators, advisers, researchers, grower group and industry representatives and key local growers.
“The critical elements for most topics are that the information be new, applicable, ready for on-farm adoption, impacting on the bottom line and good science.”
Mr Cameron said the Breeza meeting will include many highlights and touch upon “many different aspects” of farming.
“There will be so much different stuff covered at the meeting,” he said.
“We will have, what I think will be a very interesting session from Moree farmer Nick Gillingham, on how and why he installed his own 50MB/sec broadband system and how this set up his farm for further automation.
“As well as that we will have several presenters focusing on summer cropping which is appropriate because are often pillar crops for profit in the Liverpool Range crop rotations.
“New agronomy including tall types of sorghum, ultra high yielding sorghum and imidazolinone tolerant varieties as well as sunflower agronomy will also be highlights of discussion.
“There is certainly a great mix and variety at the upcoming meetings.”
Registrations for the Breeza Meeting can be made on the day at 8.30am for a 9am start, or by emailing northernupdates@icanrural.com.au.
The cost of registrations is $30 per person and $20 for each subsequent person per farm. Morning tea and lunch are included in the registration fees.
The GRDC will host similar update meetings in Dubbo on Tuesday February 27 and Wednesday February 28, and Goondiwindi on Tuesday March 6 and Wednesday March 7.
