For a third year, the Rams braved the heat, humidity and self-inflicted injuries to start the season off on a winning note.
This year the team saw some new faces play with the addition of three Welsh players who have joined the Rams.
Barraba’s first match at the tournament – which was held over two days – on Saturday was hard-fought with the Rams winning 17-12 over the Southern Cross Buccaneers.
The Rams then played more freely against the Katherine Brahmans to win 31-0.
In the final pool game, Barraba beat University Pirates 26-7 to remain undefeated and secure a spot in the Jug Finals.
The finals started on Sunday with monsoonal rain falling as Barraba took on the Northern Warriors.
A slow start saw the Rams down by 17 in the first few minutes with the sloppy conditions causing headaches for the players.
The team dug deep and mounted a comeback to score the next points.
However, it wasn’t enough as the Rams went down 17-7.
The Rams thanked their major sponsor John Bishton and Family at Bi-Rite Bingara for their support along with everyone else who supported the team.
The club encouraged anyone interested in playing or helping with the Barraba Rams to attend training at 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Barraba Sports Ground. Alternatively, interested people can contact the club.
