The Magneton 3T Siemens machine is one of the best in the country, and cements the Tamworth Hospital’s reputation as one of the best in regional Australia following the completion of a $211 million upgrade last year.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the new machine “is a significant addition to the imaging services available to inpatients at Tamworth Hospital.”
“The community has been asking for an MRI machine for some time.”
“There has been a lot of hard work and commitment to make this happen and I join Hunter New England Health in celebrating an incredible achievement.”
Imaging operations manager Leah Mann said that having the high level diagnostic service in the hospital will make for “shorter stays, a safer experience, and better outcomes for patients.”
