Matt Scullion, who co-wrote ‘Our Backyard’ – the tune nominated for a host of gongs at this year’s Golden Guitar awards – performed the eponymous ‘I’m Just a Song’ from his new album on Friday at his annual Scullion Sessions on Peel Street alongside country music great Tania Kernaghan and Drew McAlister.
Scullion spent six years in Nashville, immersed in the home of country music and its songs, before releasing the album in January.
"It's still early days but the music has been really well received," he said.
"I always planned on getting back into the saddle, but the reason why I decided to go off and be a songwriter was because I wanted to go over and live in Nashville.
"I'd been there many times, but I wanted to immerse myself in it."
