Andy has taken a break from packing pubs and clubs in Sydney’s inner west, to bring his six piece, The Andy Golledge Band, home to fire up the festival with their unique alt-country Americana sound.
“Playing music is already like a working holiday but coming home to the festival is great,” he said.
“I get to play to old friends and new, see my family, and go fishing – it’s refreshing.”
“The festival already has a great platform – I would love to see it push further towards alt-country.”
The band, who are on the verge of dropping their first full album kicked off their festival at The Tamworth Hotel on Wednesday night, playing every night through to Saturday.
Andy’s musical odyssey began at McCarthy College in 2002 when he “asked a friend to show me a few chords on the guitar.”
“A few weeks later I was writing songs – it was all I did in year 12 and it stuck with me. I moved to Sydney when I was 19 and have just been playing gigs ever since.”
The alt-country Americana sound came later, but has since grown into a passion.
Last year the band were picked up to be part of an Australian showcase at the Americana Music Festival in Nashville, and now plan on moving there in 2019 after the album is released around March.
“Until then we are going to try and release a new single from it every month.”
