A MAN clocked travelling nearly 60km/h over the speed limit near Wallabadah has had his licence suspended for six months.

Police from the Joint Traffic Task Force were conducting high -visibility patrols of the New England Highway, between Tamworth and Willow Tree, for Operation Sherbrook on Friday.
These patrols are just one of the many currently being undertaken by the Highway Patrol and are aimed at ensuring motorists travelling to Tamworth for the annual Country Music Festival abide by the road rules and arrive safety.
At 4.15pm, a 46-year-old man from Maryland (Newcastle) was detected travelling north towards Tamworth at 158km/h in a 100km/h speed zone just north of the township of Wallabadah, police allege.
A short time later, the male driver was stopped and issued a $2384 penalty notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, his NSW driver's licence was suspended for six months, the registration plates were removed from the vehicle and the registration was cancelled for three months.

Police inquiries with the male driver revealed that he was driving to Tamworth to visit a relative who was going to conduct repairs on the steering components of his vehicle in an apparent attempt to save money on the repairs, which had been quoted at $2490.
