It replaced the objective measurement – Ultimate Ram Competition – held at the previous two field days and was won by Murray Power, Airlie Merinos, Walcha, who also took out the Ultimate Ram in 2016.
The People’s Choice competition was held at the Uralla Showground and field days secretary Janet Carter said about 100 people cast votes for the 11 studs with teams in the competition.
Mark Waters, “Eddington”, Armidale, won the Win a Ram competition worth up to $1000 towards the cost of a ram purchased from one of the 19 studs who took part in the field days.
The event wrapped up with dinner and drinks on Saturday night in Uralla at the New England Brewing Company where last minute guest speaker, SportUNE centre manager Tom Bower, spoke about his development work with young rugby players and his role as head coach of the women’s rugby sevens Lions.
