They take in the buskers on Peel St, Harvey performs at nursing homes and charity gigs and he takes time out to breathe in the atmosphere.
He’s gearing up for two big shows at the festival, including a cracker of a gig on Australia Day at Wests’ League Club from 5pm. He’s urging country fans to come along for a great evening of entertainment.
“Lots of the country singers are going FIFO during the festival, they fly in and do their show and then fly out,” Harvey said.
“I love to hang around. I go sing at the nursing home and try and sing at Country in the Vines and see the buskers on Peel St.
“I do more of that than my own shows and I really love it.
“Tamworth is really nice for us. It’s a bit of a family holiday and we really love to catch up with a lot of friends.”
Last year Adam Harvey and his daughter Leylah joined forces on stage at Wests’ and the duo are tuning up their guitars for the next round in January 2018.
“We’re already busy working on our songs. It’s very exciting and I love singing with Leylah. It’s wonderful to be able to do that but I’m sure she’ll get over it and get sick of singing with her daggy old man soon.
“But it’s something I’ll treasure forever.
“A lot of people who have come to my shows have been following me since I was busking. They’ve watched my family grow up, and Layla from a baby in a pram to now singing on stage.”
Harvey is gearing up to head to Nashville in February where he’ll record a new album.
He said he’ll test new material out on his festival crowds along with the hits that everyone knows and loves.
“I always look at my shows the same way my good mate Beccy Cole does - it’s about entertainment and if people can come along and forget their cares and worries and have a good sing along, I’ve done my job.
“I know hundreds of shows are on offer at the festival, but If you come along and check out my show - I can guarantee there will be lots of surprises.”
