On Saturday, the Liverpool Plains Business Chamber will host Christmas in Quirindi from 9am-3pm.
George Street will be closed between the two main roundabouts, with plenty of activities on offer including market stalls, Rotary chocolate wheel, Christmas dress-up competition, a visit from Santa, the announcement of the Christmas lights competition winner, and the Sunflower Arts Festival at Quirindi Royal Theatre.
There will be plenty of entertainment, with performers showcasing their musical talents throughout the day. Harvest Christian Centre’s youth band will play near Quirindi Medical Centre at 9.30am.
Children can head into the free Kids Fest zone for a jumping castle, Twister, snakes and ladders and a puppet show. Kids Fest is run by Harvest Christian Centre.
On Sunday night, Quirindi Rural Heritage Village will play host to Christmas Carols by Candlelight.
The free event is run by Quirindi Ministers Fraternal and will kick-off at 6.30pm with a free sausage sizzle. The carols will begin at 7.30pm and participants are asked to bring a chair or rug to sit on.
St Auburn’s Anglican Church, Harvest Christian Centre and Quirindi Christian Fellowship will lend their instruments and vocals to the annual event.
There’s plenty for kids with miniature train rides, a puppet show and lollies. Glow sticks will be available for purchase and Scripture Union’s Dave Tankard will be a guest speaker.
Ministers Fraternal member Phyl Nichols said the carols are a community event, with local businesses donating time and equipment.
“It’s a great family night that builds lots of memories and is an opportunity to hear a message of peace and joy,” she said.
“I would say it’s one of the highlights of our Christmas calendar.”
