The Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) released the crime data for 17 major categories on Thursday morning for the 12 months to September this year.
In the Tamworth area, assaults jumped by almost 100 incidents on the same period in 2016. In property crime, 72 more homes and 64 more businesses were hit by thieves; 38 more cars stolen and 108 more vehicles were broken into in the 12 months to September.
The Armidale area saw a drop in break-and-enters to houses and car thefts, with 108 less cars broken into.
But the amount of indecent assaults doubled in the 12 months to September, this year, on the same period last year.
Sexual assaults doubled in Glen Innes while indecent assaults halved. Break-ins almost doubled to businesses in the town but shoplifting dropped to just 13 incidents over the 12-month period.
The Liverpool Plains council area saw a drop in domestic violence-related assaults by 21 incidents while car thefts and car stealings doubled. Malicious damage to property spiked by almost 40 more incidents in the same area.
In Moree, robberies without a weapon and with a firearm as well as thefts from persons all tripled. According to the data, 168 more houses were broken into and 88 more businesses were hit in the 12-month period. Malicious damage to property across the council area was also up by more than 100 incidents.
Gunnedah saw a 33 per cent drop in malicious damage incidents, and Tenterfield almost 24 per cent, while Liverpool Plains recorded a 60 per cent spike in the same crime category, with 104 incidents recorded in the 12 months to September, 2017, compared with 65 in the previous year.
The number of sexual assaults in Uralla more than doubled to nine incidents but indecent assaults fell form 23 incidents to three in the 12 months to September.
