Donald Eugene Eyekamp initially denied the charge against him but on the day of the hearing in Tamworth Local Court entered a guilty plea to threatening aviation security.
Magistrate Roger Prowse convicted the 73-year-old of the offence and fined him $5,000.
Eykamp was arrested after passing through security in the airport terminal on July 23.
He became aggressive to security staff and made threats including threatening to blow up the airport.
At the time of the arrest, police said the 73-year-old made further threats in connection to aircraft safety when officers arrived.
Eyekamp has been on bail since his arrest and has been prohibited from going within 50m of Tamworth Airport.
