Oxley police Inspector Kylie Endemi said a 27-year-old man was in his Bank Lane home when two men entered by kicking in the rear door about 2am Monday.
Police allege the 27-year-old was assaulted by way of a punch, sustaining lacerations to the facial area.
“Damage was caused inside the home by the offenders, before they stole a mobile phone,” Inspector Endemi said.
“The male offenders took off, before the victim was rushed to Quirindi hospital by ambulance.”
At 6.40am Monday, a 40-year-old man was arrested at a Tamworth address, charged with aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence, and larceny.
He was bail refused to appear in Tamworth Local Court on Monday afternoon.
Police are still searching for the second man believed to be involved in the incident.
