Inner Wheel is a friendship organisation for women, originating in 1924 England when women would help their Rotarian husbands.
Tamworth branch president Wendy Bennet said 10 clubs from across the district, including Inverell, Narrabri and Wee Waa met in Tamworth on Friday for its bi-annual district conference.
The weekend culminated in a formal dinner at the Econo Lodge on Saturday night, pulling a crowd of 76 people.
“As a club we support local charities,” Mrs Bennet said.
“Inner Wheel is a friendship club, but we also do charity work.
“We distribute the money at the end of the year to different charities that we feel need our support, but mainly it’s a friendship club where ladies get together and enjoy fellowship.”
The conference featured a visit from Inner Wheel Australia national president Karen Winters ahead of the international conference in March in Melbourne.
“She is trying to go around to as many districts throughout Australia while she is in her realm as Australian president for the 12 months,” Mrs Bennet said.
“She was very kind enough to come to Tamworth.”
