Garry Walter Fields appeared via video link in Armidale Local Court on Wednesday where he was committed for sentence on 22 charges.
He admitted to a raft of charges in using a weapon to avoid apprehension, dishonestly obtaining property by deception, stealing a car, damaging property, resisting, assaulting and intimidating police and committing a Section 114 offence with a previous conviction.
Eleven other back-up charges were transferred to the Armidale District Court on a 166 certificate and will be dealt with after sentencing.
Fields’ crime spree spanned three days across the Northern Tablelands, after ramming a police car on the Gwydir Highway outside Glen Innes on April 28.
The officers were patrolling the highway looking for a Toyota Landcruiser utility which was stolen from a Strathbogie Rd, Wellingrove property, earlier that day.
Police said as they attempted to intercept it at Glen Elgin, Fields was behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle and rammed the passenger side of the cop car and took off.
Magistrate Michael Holmes formally refused bail and ordered a medical report and pre-sentence report ahead of sentencing in Armidale District Court in December.
Fields was arrested on Kubba Jimba Rd at Dundee about 11.15am on May 2, by the dog squad, Armidale TAG and police technicians.
