While Tamworth's Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked on missions to the Scone and Armidale area, the Newcastle Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the Dungowan area near Tamworth to respond to the incident.
Paramedics and the helicopter’s medical team treated the 50-year-old man after the quad bike he was riding rolled.
He reportedly suffered rib and suspected spinal injuries.
The quad bike is believed to have been equipped with a roll bar.
The man has been flown to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle for further treatment.
